Hi DJ,

Not sure if you are working on COM+ related issues for incorporation into DAF however the COM+ Hotfix Cumulative Update is now publicly available for download via the \"Update for Windows Communication Foundation (KB912817)\" downloads at:

<a href=\"http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=912817\" rel="nofollow">Update for Windows Communication Foundation (KB912817)</a>

This might help with fixing COM+ issues however I have not had the opportunity to try this as yet.

Kind Regards

Re InstMsiA: You're right, and I wonder why 9x never complained about InstMsiW.

Re XML 6: I only included 3 and 4 originally because they are tied into the operating system (XML3, for instance, is required for Windows Updates). I won't include the future releases. In fact...

Re VC++ 2005, MDAC, et al: I'm going to disband the full version of Dial-a-fix and just stick with medium/light. There's too many issues already with platforms and languages to be able to manage. Plus, people are downloading the full version all the time (when it's rarely required). So I think I'm going to remove all of the installers and just maintain a tab on the Help page which links to all of the redistributables (everything from DirectX to VC).

for win9x, the windows installer, shouldnt it be this file? (InstMsiA.exe)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cebbacd8-c094-4255-b702-de3bb768148f&displaylang=en#filelist

also xml 6 is avaiable, and can work along side xml 3 & 4
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1&DisplayLang=en

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=32bc1bee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&DisplayLang=en

and have you considered including MDAC?

That was in the works (well, for the important types: exe, com, bat, reg, pif, scr, vbs, js) but it is on pause while I work on some of the other things.

How about a 'Restore file association' fix.
Restore to the default values for file types?
(just came up against this recently - LOTS of registry fixes to perform - lol)
